Situation: The 2020 election season in New Orleans saw unprecedentedly long lines at polling stations, causing voter suppression among citizens unable to stand in line for hours.
Challenge: With heightened political tensions across the nation, the Saints and Pelicans faced the challenge of supporting the community without alienating any of their audiences.
My role: As the social media lead for the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans and a member of the diversity and inclusion council, I played a crucial role in enhancing the positive sentiment toward the team's contributions to the community during the 2020 election season. I utilized my skills in digital strategy, local election research, news presentation, on-air hosting, behavioral change research, script writing, and video production to develop and execute a campaign to increase voter turnout and empower voters. In the face of heightened political tensions across the nation, I worked to support the community without alienating any audience.
