Approach: Encourage community action to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
Situation: New Orleans mandated Covid-19 vaccinations or a negative PCR test for all fans attending NFL and NBA games.
Challenge: Low vaccination rates among fans could threaten player and fan safety during the NFL and NBA seasons.
My role: My expertise in community outreach and content creation allowed me to effectively communicate the importance of vaccinating against Covid-19. I worked with partners who provided accessible and free Covid-19 vaccines, with added incentives such as prizes and raffles. By highlighting the vaccination efforts of notable Saints and Pelicans players, I aimed to increase trust in the Covid-19 vaccine and encourage more people to get vaccinated. My role involved analyzing data and conducting research to understand the behavior of our target audience and using that information to create a strategy that would inspire a community-wide effort toward protecting public health.
Strategy: Inspire a community-wide effort towards protecting public health by getting vaccinated. By working together, the city of New Orleans can keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities safe. To achieve this goal, our strategy included creating platform-specific content for different social media platforms and producing video and photo content for news channels to help spread the message and reach a wider audience. We aimed to engage with people where they already are and in a way that resonates with them, inspiring them to take action and protect their health and the health of their communities.
Insight: Providing accessible healthcare services is a powerful motivator for preventative healthcare measures.
Skills utilized: Behavioral change research, community outreach, health and safety protocols, data analysis, government regulations compliance, and content creation.
